Blood shed in Ikere Ekiti

No fewer than four persons were killed yesterday evening as a group of gunmen attacked a first generation bank in Ikere-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

Sources said the robbers first launched an attack on a nearby police station, killing two policemen in the process, before attacking the bank. The sources added that the attack on the bank, after its closure to customers, left two customers at the ATM dead

GOODLUCK change FMC, Ido_Ekiti to ABUAD’s teaching hospital

President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the upgrade of the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Ido-Ekiti, to a federal teaching hospital for the clinical training of medical students and allied health professionals of Afe Babalola University, Ado- Ekiti, ABUAD.

A statement by the Head, Public Relations of ABUAD, Mr Tunde Olofintila, yesterday said the approval was contained in a letter with Reference Number HMH/ABJ/450/ Vol. IV/152 dated October 15, 2014 and signed by the immediate past Minister of Health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu.

Nigeria Politics Reject intellectuals------ Fayemi

The Ekiti State governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, has lamented a situation where intellectualism has no place in Nigeria’s politics.

Fayemi, who was apparently referring to the outcome of the June 21, Ekiti State gubernatorial election, which produced Ayo Fayose, regretted that what counts is grassroots attachment rather than intellectual capacity of the candidate.
