EKSG PROMOTES 14 PRINCIPALS TO LEVEL 17


Ekiti State Government has promoted 14 principals of public secondary schools to special grade level 17.
The Chairman of the Teaching Service Commission, Prince Bayo Adeniran who made this known while monitoring activities in public schools after resumption from the 2nd term holiday, said that the gesture was part of the transformational agenda of the Fayemi led administration.
Prince Adeniran  noted that the action would motivate teachers and boost their morale towards achieving the desired standard of education in the state.
Reiterating the resolve of the present administration to guaranteeing job satisfaction for its workforce, the TESCOM boss charged teachers to reciprocate government’s gesture by being dedicated to their duties and living up to their responsibilities.
He warned that government would not tolerate truancy as well as other forms of indiscipline and lawlessness, stressing that principals and teachers have the responsibility of living by example and enforcing necessary order in public schools to sustain development in the institutions.
Adeniran also advised parents and guardians to ensure that their children and wards take advantage of the provision of a conducive learning environment by the state government to secure their future.

THREE HELD FOR ‘ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF ARMS’ IN EKITI




Three men have been arrested in Ekiti State for “illegal possession of arms”.

They were said to be members of a political party.

Police Commissioner Felix Uyanna said yesterday that the suspects were arrested in Ikere-Ekiti around 6:30pm on Tuesday.

Uyanna said four rifles and assorted charms were recovered from them.

He said: “Some members of the public heard a gunshot and alerted the police. My men raided the place and arrested the three men. They were about eight or nine that committed the offence and we will arrest the others soon. They will be charged to court alongside the people they mentioned as their sponsors when we conclude our investigations.”

Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation has alleged that former governor, Ayo Fayose is planning to set part of his office ablaze and blame same on the supporter of the All Progressives Congress.

The Spokesperson of the campaign organisation, Mr. Dimeji Daniels, said this in a statement made available to our correspondent on Wednesday.

Two weeks after the Nyanya, Abuja bomb blast that left over 70 dead, another bomb blast occurred today opposite Nyanya Motor Park, Abuja.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that nine persons were left dead with over 20 injured.
The injured persons have already been taken to nearby hospitals.
It was gathered that the bomb was detonated in a car, as it happened during the April 14 bomb blast.
The Nigeria Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) officials who were at the scene have evacuated the injured persons.

Students of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti (EKSU) have lauded Governor Kayode Fayemi and the Vice Chancellor of the school, Prof. Patrick Aina, for lifting ban on unionism in the school.

The Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation has described the planned establishment of an Institute of Medical Technology in Ifaki-Ekiti, Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State by Governor Kayode Fayemi as a ‘Greek gift’ that should be rejected by the people of Ifaki-Ekiti.

In a release issued on Tuesday and signed by the Director General of the campaign organisation, Dipo Anisulowo, the planned Medical Technology Institute was described as an insult on the people of Ifaki-Ekiti, saying; “It is only a wicked government that will take away a university from a community and come back three years after with a plan to replace it with an Institute of Medical Technology. Or isn’t it an act of wickedness to take an 18-seater bus from someone and replace it with Okada?”
