Three nurses and the Director of Administration, Ado Ekiti Local
Government Area of Ekiti State, Mr Tayo Olawuyi, have been kidnapped.
The nurses were kidnapped on Friday, while Olawuyi’s incident occurred early last week. None of the victims has been found and their abductors are yet to get in touch with their families, Daily Trust gathered.
A source said yesterday that the nurses, who are staff of General Hospital, Ifaki, were travelling to Ido Ekiti, after close of work when they were abducted.
The source, who also worked at the same hospital said: “The driver of the vehicle in which the victims were travelling in, is called Mrs Titilayo Ajiboye. Mrs Ajiboye was on morning duty that day and it was after close of work that the incident occurred.”
Olawuyi’s kidnap was confirmed by a staff of the area, who pleaded for anonymity.
He said Olawuyi was accosted by the suspected kidnappers at the gate of his house located at Odo Ado area of Ado Ekiti at gun point.
The abductors, it was gathered, drove the victim away in their car, while a member of the gang drove the victim’s car.
“Since that day, the family has been trying to call him but the cell phone was switched off. In fact there is confusion everywhere. This is the second time Olawuyi is being kidnapped in three years,” the source said, adding that nobody had been contacted in Olawuyi’s family.
Efforts to get the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Victor Babayemi, to comment were unsuccessful. The statement he promised to issue later, was not forthcoming at press time.
