Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State took his audience by storm when
he said that his party, All Progressives Congress (APC), has
discovered how the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
short-changed it in the June 21 Governorship Election in the state.
The governor dropped bombshell while featuring on the Yoruba Edition
of the monthly progamme ‘Gomino S’alaye’ monitored by Daily Independent
in Ado-Ekiti.
Although Fayemi was not specific on the nature of fraud allegedly
perpetrated by the commission, he assured that all the dirty deals would
be uncovered in no distant time.
“I want to say that we have discovered some fraud in the last
election. But it is yet a matter for public consumption. This discovery
had certainly gave us the hope that our party would win Osun election,”
Fayemi stated.
He also hinted that the agitation for creation of additional local
governments actually predated the creation of Ekiti State itself.
“Even when Ekiti was still part of the old Ondo State, many of our
communities had pushed for either splitting or creation of additional
local governments in their respective constituencies.
What we have done so far followed due process,” the governor stated.
In what appeared to be his response to Nigeria Union of Local
Government Employees (NULGE) which ordered his members to stay off new
council areas, Fayemi said workers have no business in the process of
creating new councils.
He urged any worker who may wish to play politics to leave the Civil Service and face full time politics.
