Man kills wife, absconds with newborn twins in Ekiti
A man identified simply as Kola has been declared wanted by the Ekiti State Police Command for allegedly killing his wife and absconding with her newborn twin babies.
The man, an indigene of Ayede-Ekiti in Oye Local Government area of Ekiti State was alleged to have absconded with the babies after he killed his wife overnight between Friday and Saturday morning at his residence in Ajowa area of Ado Ekiti.
Sources claimed that Kola and his wife, identified simply as Titilayo, were not residing together until the birth of the boy and girl twins.
Sources added that Kola also known as ‘Melomelo’ slept in the one room apartment on Friday after visiting Titilayo following her delivery on Thursday.
However, Titilayo, who was said to be a mother of four, was found dead on Saturday morning with the babies missing.
The alarm over the incidence was raised on Saturday morning following the death of Titilayo, the disappearance of her hubby and the set of twins, with Titilayo’s landlady identified as Mama Aluko, lamenting that the incident was baffling.
Mrs. Aluko said: “Titilayo was delivered of a set of twins around mid-night on August 7. I was with her, helping in tending the children and other things. Her husband, who doesn’t live here for sometime now, also came around. Her mum was also around. When it was around 8:30 pm on Friday, August 8, her mother told me that she would be going for a vigil in her church.
“So, it was her husband, herself and their new twins that I left before I went to bed that night. This morning, (August 9) I woke up with plans to prepare food for Titilayo. It was then someone rushed to me to tell me that they couldn’t wake Titilayo up and that her husband and the twins had disappeared.”
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Ekiti State Police Command, Mr. Victor Babayemi, who confirmed the incident said: “It is a case of homicide and child stealing. The deceased was found dead on the bed in quite suspicious circumstances, and the prime suspect is the husband of the woman whom we haven’t seen.
“So, we have a case of homicide and child stealing on our hands. We are looking for the man named Kola and the twins. We are investigating the case.”
