The Ekiti State Development Union (ESDU) has described a
socio-political group in the state, E-Eleven, as a group a selfish individuals,
who are only interested in protecting their personal interests.
The ESDU said “the E-Eleven’s opposition to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr. Ayodele Fayose was as a result of their desperation to continue with their management of the state-owned Fountain Hotel without paying the government.”
The group in a release issued in Ado-Ekiti today, by the ESDU and signed by its Chairman, Pastor Yemi Olayinka and Secretary, Mr. Foluso Oguntoyinbo, said “reasonable Ekiti indigenes don’t take E-Eleven serious because the group cannot point to anything that it contributed to the development of the state since inception.”
The ESDU which urged Ekiti people to ignore the E-Eleven and its “anti-Ekiti development” antics added that “in the last 12 years, the people in E-Eleven have done nothing other than evil to Ekiti and its people.
“They were the ones who waged war against Otunba Niyi Adebayo when he was governor; they waged war against Fayose when he refused to hand over the State treasury to them.
“And when Segun Oni was governor, the same elements in E-Eleven waged war against him, despite that they were instrumental to an agreement between Governor Kayode Fayemi and Oni that whoever that emerged as governor between the duo will be supported.
“Ekiti people must begin to ask these E-Eleven people what happened to the ‘Head or Tail’ agreement entered into between Oni and Fayemi.
“They should explain to Ekiti people why they have refused to pay one kobo to the coffers of Ekiti State since they took over the management of Fountain Hotel, Ado Ekiti.
“Where were the likes of Senator Babafemi Ojudu when Fayose was campaigning for Fayemi in 2009? Why didn’t they raise all the issues they are now raising then? Does it mean that it was when Fayose severed relationship with Fayemi that E-Eleven suddenly remembered all the puerile issues they are now raising against Fayose?
“Our advice to those people in E-Eleven is that they should stop operating as apologists of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and focus on the development of Ekiti State, to which they have not showed any concern.
“As per whether or not Fayose will be Ekiti State governor again, that is left for the masses of Ekiti to decide, not a self-appointed elitist group that has added no positive value to the state,” the group asserted.
