For coming out strongly against opposition party, the All Progressives
Congress (APC) at the Saturday Governorship poll in Ekiti State, a
group, Campaign for Transformation Agenda (CTA), on Monday urged
President Goodluck Jonathan to adequately compensate the state with more
federal projects.
In a congratulatory message by CTA to the Ekiti State
governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose, and President
Jonathan, and signed by
the group national coordinator, Engr. Banji Omotoso, and South-West
coordinator, Dr. Olajide Adeniji, the CTA said Ekiti electorate dealt a
big blow on the face of the over ambitious APC, thereby humbling its
leaders, including Bola Tinubu, Governor Kayode Fayemi and other party
chieftains.
The group said Ekiti people have liberated the rest of Yoruba race
from the grip of APC which goes about parading fake progressives. It
said by voting against the APC candidate in the June 21 Governorship
Election, Ekiti people have given President Jonathan a new cause to
laugh over his political enemies.
“Both Mr. President and Dr. Ayodele Fayose should be grateful to
Ekiti people for this special courage and total support openly displayed
towards the PDP, and rejection of opposition APC,” it stated.
The CTA, however, promised to continue working closely with the
Presidency to make inroads into the South-West and win the rest states
in the region back to PDP.
Also, the Conference of Nigerian Civil Rights Activists (CNCRA) has
commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the
people of Ekiti State for the peaceful conduct of governorship election.
The group, in a statement signed by its convener, Ifeanyi Odili, on
Monday, said the victory of Ayo Fayose and the defeat of Dr. Kayode
Fayemi are pointers to the fact that Nigerians are beginning to refuse
to be fooled and deceived during election period.
The CNCRA said investigation revealed that the fall of Fayemi was
attributed to the fallout of unnecessary increment in tuition fees, and
taxation of the poor masses who voted him in the first place.
