Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi, was on Monday, commended by the
Senate Leader, Victor Ndoma-Egba, and former Senator Emmanuel Anosike,
for the statesmanship action he displayed by congratulating Ayo Fayose,
who won the last Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Ndoma-Egba, in a statement in Abuja on Monday, described Fayemi as
‘a rare breed politician, stressing that the man had “brought a new
dimension into Nigerian politics by conceding victory to Fayose when it
became clear that “the people have spoken.”
He said, “I particularly commend Governor Fayemi for his uncommon sportsmanship and statesmanship.”
Ndoma-Egba congratulated Fayose for his victory at the poll and
equally commended the Independent National Electoral Commission on the
successful conduct of the election.
Senator Emmanuel Anosike also said in Abuja on Monday that by his
action, Governor Fayemi had written his name in gold by exhibiting
enough courage to concede to the wish of his people, thereby saving the
state from unnecessary bloodletting.
Anosike who represented Anambra North Senatorial District in the
sixth Senate, commended President Goodluck Jonathan, for creating a
favourable atmosphere for the conduct of the poll which had so far,
been adjudged as free, fair and credible.
