The second runner-up in Saturday’s governorship election and
candidate of the Labour Party (LP) has congratulated the governor-elect,
Ayodele Fayose of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing the
election as a “true reflection of democracy.”
Mr. Bamidele said in a statement on Sunday morning that as a “mature politician” he accepts the outcome result in “good faith.”
He also thanked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
and security agencies for their “unbiased stance” and for allowing the
people of Ekiti to freely make their choice.
Mr. Bamidele singled out his supporters in his hometown, Iyin, for
special thank for sticking by him throughout his campaign and for voting
for him over other political parties.
Mr. Bamidele polled a total of 18, 135 votes to emerge second
runner-up behind the incumbent governor of the All Progressives
Congress, Kayode Fayemi, who polled, 120,433 votes and Mr, Fayose who
won with 203,090 votes.
