Mrs Funmi Olayinka was born into Famuagun family of
Ado-Ekiti on June 20, 1960. She attended Holy Trinity Grammar School Ibadan and
Olivet Baptist High School Oyo for her Higher School Certificate (HSC). She was
a product of Central University, Edmond, Oklahoma, USA where she obtained B.Sc
degree in
Business Administration (Marketing) and M.Sc. degrees in Public
Administration. She was three times winner of the Dean's Honor roll. She
started her banking career with First Bank PLC in 1986. Her work experience at
senior management level traversed all areas in the corporate affairs department
in the
banks where she worked. Mrs Funmi Olayinka became the 2nd Vice-President
of Association of Corporate Managers of Banks between 2002 and 2004. She rose
to become the head of corporate affairs of the UBA PLC before she was nominated
as the running mate to Dr. Kayode Fayemi, the gubernatorial candidate of
Ekiti-State in the run up to the April 2007 elections. Her Excellency, Mrs
Funmi Olayinka was sworn-in as the Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Nigeria on
October 15, 2010 after a long walk to democratic victory. She was a Lay Reader
in the Lagos West Anglican Diocese and a member of the Anglican Church of the
Ascension, Omodara Street, Opebi, Ikeja, Lagos. She was survived by her
husband, children, siblings and aged parents. May God console the family and
Ekiti people who lost a distinguished Deputy Governor. God giveth, He taketh!
