Mimiko made the assertion in Ado Ekiti at the palace of Ewi of Ado Ekiti, Oba Rufus Adejugbe during his visit in company with the LP’s candidate and other national officers of the party , led by its chairman, Mr. Dan Nwanyanwu to the monarch.
Mimiko therefore appealed to the people of Ekiti State to vote for Bamidele, describing Labour Party
as “a party that is running a distinctive and less privileged-based government in the entire south west zone” just as he declared that the LP will run a distinct government that will place priority on how to increase the relevance of the poverty-stricken populace.
Responding, Oba Adejugbe, appealed to all political gladiators to give peace a chance, saying the state is “becoming tensed up by the day with the way your followers had been attacking one another”.
The traditional ruler expressed displeasure at the level of tension in the polity, saying politics among people of the same family should not lead to bloodshed.“I think Ekiti State may not be rich, but we have human resources. But I think our politicians should not see this as a do-or-die affair”, he counseled.
Applauding Bamidele’s virtues, particularly his civil approach to politics, the monarch added that “I pray that Hon Opeyemi Bamidele doesn’t regret his action to serve the people of this State”.
Speaking , Bamidele pledged that he would use his salary as the Chief Executive of the State to cater for the orphans and the less privileged children, remiding that “I have not been taking salary as a member of House of Representatives in the last three years.
He added that “My salary is being used to empower the poor and to take care of those who are in need and I am very passionate about Ekiti and I am committed to rescue my people from sufferings”.
Bamidele regretted that the preceding administrations in Ekiti have disappointed the people, saying “I am in Ekiti to bring a new lease of life to liberate the people because as the Commissioner for Youth and Sports in Lagos State, I built 23 youth Development centres across the State and I also completed the Teslim Balogun Stadium that had been abandoned for long among other landmark achievements I recorded under former Governor Bola Tinubu and the incumbent Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola”.
The governor, who is the National Leader of the party, also described the LP as the only party that can rescue the less privileged in Ekiti from the claws of poverty and hard biting economic problems being faced by the populace.
