Ahead of the Ekiti State governorship election, an opinion
poll conducted by NOI Polls has indicated that the election would be a tight
contest between the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives
Congress (APC), Dr Kayode Fayemi and the candidate of the Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP), Mr Ayo Fayose.
The poll was conducted for ANAP Foundation, a non-profit organisation.
A statement issued by the President and Founder of ANAP Foundation,Mr Atedo Peterside indicated that there was just a two per cent gap between the duo.
The statement read : “When asked who respondents will be voting for in the coming June 2014 governorship elections in Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose led the list of candidates with 31 percent, while Kayode Fayemi had 29 percent. Mr Bamidele Opeyemi of Labour Party (LP)trailed at a third position with three percent.
“However, 37 percent of those polled are undecided as to their choice of candidate; and it is believed this proportion of voters would be critical in deciding who eventually wins the coveted seat.
“The survey results also show that youths between the ages of 18-29 years are more inclined to vote for Ayo Fayose, while the working class between the age groups of 30-45 and 46-60 are more inclined to vote for Kayode Fayemi.
