The Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State has criticized Governor
Kayode Fayemi for reportedly denying to have conceded victory to its
candidate in the June 21 governorship election, Mr. Ayo Fayose.
In a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the state
PDP’s Publicity Secretary, Kola Oluwawole, said Fayemi’s “sudden
reversal of his concession” showed the political inconsistency of his
party, the All Progressives Congress.
Oluwawole said the voters “disgraceful humiliation of the APC” was
responsible for his earlier concession of defeat, adding that the PDP
never took the governor serious when he accepted defeat.
According to him, Fayemi’s claims that he made the statement then in
order to save Ekiti from blood spilling is the demonstration of his
garrulous arrogance because he knew that nobody would have raised a
finger even if he was rigged out.
“The double talk of the outgoing governor is a symptom of wild
frustration hence, it took Fayemi a month to wake up from the other side
of the bed to insult the intelligence of Ekiti people by saying that
has not said he conceded defeat.”
“How do you describe Fayemi who congratulated a person who defeated
him in an election that was adjudged to be free fair and peaceful by
both Nigerian and International communities to come out after a month to
change gear and be saying the opposite,” the party asked.
