A chieftain of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Sen.
Bode Ola, says no fewer than 8,000 members of the All Progressives
Congress (APC) in Ekiti have defected to the PDP in the last couple of
weeks.
Ola, who represented Ekiti Central Senatorial District, told newsmen
on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti that members of the APC have been defecting
to the PDP since the victory of Mr. Ayodele Fayose in the June 21
governorship election in the state.
The former lawmaker, who also defected to the PDP three months ago,
said: “I can confirm to you that people keep coming to me almost on
daily basis to signify their interest to follow me to PDP.
“This is because they knew I served them well while in the Senate
and also trusted that Fayose who I am supporting is a reliable person.
“When the righteous is in authority like it is in the case with
Fayose, the people rejoice and want to identify with you, probably
because they know we have better programmes for them in PDP.”
Ola said the defectors were from Ado, Ijero, Ekiti West, Efon and Irepodun/Ifelodun, all in Ekiti Central Senatorial District.
