Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has written to Ekiti State
House of Assembly over plans by his administration to create 18
additional council areas, to be called local council development areas
(LCDAs).
Speaker, Adewale Omirin, read at plenary a letter from the governor, seeking the creation of the LCDAs.
The speaker remarked that the policy is intended to bring
development to the state by further bringing governance close to the
people, particularly the rural dwellers.
The Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Ayodeji Odu, representing
Irepodun/Ifelodun Constituency 2, moved the motion for the business of
the day and adoption of the report on the floor of the House.
Also sent to the House was another bill seeking protection for persons living with HIV/AIDS.
The two bills passed through first reading at Monday’s plenary.
The other business at the plenary was the observance of a minute
silence in honour of the wife of the Chief Whip, Mr Ade Ajayi, who died
in an auto crash.
