The alumni of Federal Polytechnic, Ado Ekiti, have been tasked on the
need to galvanise support for the development of their alma mater.
The institution’s rector, Dr Taiwo Akande, stressed the need for the
former students to rally support for the polytechnic to help confront
the challenges of development posed by dwindling government funding.
A statement from the institution’s Deputy Registrar, Information,
Prince Adeyemi Adejolu, said the rector spoke in Port Harcourt, Rivers
State, at the inauguration of the South-South/South-East chapter of the
polytechnic’s alumni association.
Akande, who described alumni associations of institutions all over
the world as ‘bridge builders and partners in the development and
actualisation of the set goals of their respective alma maters’, praised
the commitment and zeal exhibited by the leaders of the South-
South/South-East chapters at ensuring the success of the inauguration.
Speaking earlier, the National President of the association, Mr.
Dayo Oladebeye, who is the polytechnic’s Deputy Rector (Special Duties
and Revenue Generation), expressed happiness with the way the alumni
were progressing in their various fields of endeavour in the country and
beyond.
