The Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, Dr. Samuel Emeka Kanu Uche,
has congratulated Governor-elect of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, on his
victory at the poll recently.
Also, he commended the equanimity of Governor Kayode Fayemi for accepting the election result.
A statement by the conference Public Relations Officer (PRO), Tola
Noibi, Uche said these actions showed high level of maturity and
tolerance.
He also condoled with the government and people of Oyo State over
the death of Alhaji Abdul Azeez Arisekola-Alao and urged all concerned
to bear the loss with God given fortitude.
The Prelate also enjoined the members of the political class to
emulate the statesmanship of Governor Fayemi in promptly accepting such
result, especially with his willingness to work with the Governor-elect,
Fayose, for the continued economic and political progress of the state.
Uche, while saluting the equanimity exhibited by Governor Fayemi,
reminded the entire people of Ekiti State on the need to assist the
governor-elect to ensure the peaceful co-existence and economic
prosperity of their state.
He further enjoined Governor Fayose to practically improve the
welfare of the teeming poor masses that voted him to power and to remain
focused in building on his predecessor’s achievements for a better,
secured tomorrow for the people of the state.
He commended INEC for the transparent, credible election which according to international observers was rancor-free.
He therefore urged INEC to further improve on the forthcoming Osun Gubernatorial Election as well as the 2015 polls.
